Before filling out a registration form, check you are in our catchment area in the map above.

Our catchment area is Welwyn, Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield, (postcode area AL6 to AL10)

We are based In Welwyn Garden City, opposite the New QE2 Hospital and you need to consider your ability and the time taken to travel before registering fully!

You will be required to complete a registration form, a health questionnaire and produce proof of address and photo identification.

You may be required to have a health check with the nurse or health care assistant, so that we have as much information about your health as possible.

We cannot prescribe medication for you until you have spoken to our pharmacist who can initiate any repeat medication.

Please note, in order to register correctly, we will require the registration form to be completed.

Temporary Registrations

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice.

To register as a temporary patient

  • Contact the practice you wish to use. 
  • Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. 
  • You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered at another practice
  • We are unable to process any referrals for our temporary patient, so please bear this in mind.
